2002 Civic EX Not Starting After Adding Fuel Cleaner
I have a manual 2002 Honda Civic EX coupe with about 137K miles that is not starting. I recently added some fuel cleaner to about half a tank of gas and drove about 55 miles in 1 hour (freeway driving with occasional pockets of traffic). The car drove fine during the trip as usual. I made it home and parked. As I was parking, I noticed the temperature gauge was high. (The temp wasn’t in the RED but was noticeably above the halfway point on the temp gauge). 7 hours later, I added a little bit of antifreeze/coolant the system and tried to start the car but it would not start. It would turn-over/crank but not start. I thought the engine could be flooded and removed the spark plugs but they did not seem “wet” and did not have a strong smell of gasoline. Nonetheless, I left the plugs out to dry and replaced them. I then tried starting the car with the gas pedal pushed to the floor about an hour later but still got the same results. The fuel pump can be heard priming each time I turn the car on. I don’t know what the problem could be or if anyone here has encountered this specific problem or a similar one. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I'm an amateur wrench swinger..... If it were me I would start with the basics. I would check for spark. Than I would shoot a little starter fluid into the throttle body and see if it runs on starter fluid. This should help you isolate the problem.
