Default Type R LSD ring gear bolts

Do I need the bolts from a GSR or the type R lsd? I'm using my Gsr ring gear on a type R lsd. I thought they were the same, but i'm finding different part numbers.

Nvm, I'm almost certain I need the bolts for the type R since that's what the bolts thread in.

You should also be able to find out the bolt size and pitch and replace them with some from a hardware store instead of having to order from the dealer. I'm not sure how strong they have to be but all stores will carry class 10.9 bolts which are very strong.

The GSR trans is an oddball and the ring gear/diff have a different number of bolts than the Type-R/B16/LS diffs which are all the same design so you can't just mix and match. If you want to use a GSR ring gear you need a diff meant for a GSR.

Also B-series ring gear bolts are reverse threaded, almost zero chance you'll find an equivalent at a hardware store.

You're talking about the JDM GSR Viscous LSD which has 14 bolts but the NON-LSD GSR trans has the same amount of ring gear bolts as the “R” diff.
And
you CAN use the GSR 4.4 FD ring gear and bolts on the “R” LSD, I have that combo in my trans.

Ah okay that's right, thanks for the correction. The USDM GSR trans has the same diff design and the weird part was the taper bearings on the diff, and the JDM one is the weird diff.
