Default coolant flush on accord 06 v6 , NEED ADVICES

Hello guys,

I will be changing the coolant on my car soon. Yesterday, i do an electrolysis test on the coolant and the voltage read about 0.3 which is bad because the coolant is becoming acidic and it might be eating away stuff in the engine. Plus, the coolant that is presently in my car is green and it was supposed to be blue ( honda coolant).

Anyway, I need some advice from flushing the coolant out of the system. There is a radiator coolant drain plug (petcock) and engine coolant drain bolt on my car, which I will unbolt both of them to get the coolant out. However, will doing that getting all of the coolant out, or should I crank the engine and let it squirt all the remaining coolant out?

After getting all the coolant out (assuming I successfully do it), I will add distill water to the engine through the radiator cap. Then I will turn on the car and let it circulate through system and flush it out again to get all of the old coolant out. However, my question is: will my car overheat if I start the engine while there is no coolant in it?

I'd appreciated any comments or advices.

if you want to drain the block its best to locate the drain bolt.

I know where is the engine drain bolt is? just wondering if it is ok to run the car for a few minutes without coolant inside the system because the after I pour the distill water in the radiator, it need to circulate through the system. I just hope that it won't get overheat

Most say it’s not worth the hassle to drain the block

just did mine last week, only drained the radiator and got exactly one gallon out

Why not drain everything, close everything up except the radiator cap, fill with distilled water until you can't fill no more, run engine until the radiator fan kicks on, shut engine off, drain everything.
