Bee*R states that H is for prelude however a buddy sold me type H2 for cheap. Would the type H2 work on my prelude bb6? any experience?

"H is for prelude" Do you mean the H series engines? They are for Preludes? If thats what you mean, then yeah, they are for Preludes for sure, thats what they come with.
What do you mean by "type H2"? An H series, H22 motor?

 

The H2 won't work in a prelude you need the H.
