Eg 92-95 B series battery wont charge after replacing bad alternator!
Hey yall! I been trying to figure this out. Went through alot of the threads here. And i tried alot of different things. So this is what happen. I have a b20 b and im using a d series alternator since i dont got the bracket for a b series. It was working perfectly fine for the longest until the alternator started to go bad. Well i went to auto zone and i replaced the alternator. Keep in mind my battery is also 1 month old. BOOM nothing the alternator isnt working and the battery keeps dying. All fuses intact, all belts are good, and also the wiring harness obd1 green plug is good i even spliced in a new one. Grounds are clean as well please help im running out of ideas. Tomorrow im getting a b series alternator
Check continuity between the ring terminal at the alternator and the positive battery terminal. If no continuity, check the continuity between the alternator charging terminal and the opposing end that bolts into the under hood fuse box. If this is good, check the ALT C fuse under the dash.
The yellow and black wire at the alternator must be live with the key on. The "battery" light must light with key on engine not running, and go out when running. The big output terminal on the alternator must have a solid path to the battery - show battery voltage all the time.
Things to seriously consider are your new chain store alternator may be DOA, or the problem wasn't the alternator at all in the first place.

Hey so i was just wondering what if i ran a alternate ground from the battery to the alternator? Like straight from battery to alternator and wdym by DOA? i checked all the continuity and a of it is there for some reason it just surfaced out of no where. Today ima be picking up a b series alternator but i still need a bracket
Dead On Arrival/Acceptance
If you want to ground the alternator why not ground it to the chassis, the battery is already grounded to the chassis.

take the new alt back and have it tested, the reman parts from them are hit or miss, also you can get a denso reman on amazon for same price or less
I used this one in my 95 teg with b20

So fhe alternator tested good 2 times but when i put it in the car its testing that it wont work and that its failing. Im going to autozone in a bit to get a b series starter

what do you mean by failing on the car? Did you check voltage at the alternator and at the fusebox?
I did check the fuse box all the fuses are intact too i also checked the ground from the wiring harness to the fuse box as well i replaced the alternator with a new one and it seems like its still not putting in the work it needs to charge the battery.
I checked the continuity between the fuse box and battery and its at 12.57 but then i checked the green 4 wire plug and all of them got continuity except 1 wire its the white and yellow wire i dont know what that leads to though. All under dash fuses are good as well
