94 integra project tips
I have a 94 integra that I got as a project car after I found out the frame was rusted out on my first one. I’ve had bad experiences with mechanics ripping me off because I’m a girl who didn’t know too much about cars, so I figured this would be a good way for me to learn all about them. I have a lot of questions that google didnt really answer for me
The car runs and drives so it would mainly be swapping things to turn it into the build I want. What are some recommendations on things like suspension, coil overs, exhaust etc. I want it to be powerful and loud but I don’t just want to put a fart can on it. And I want to be able to daily drive the car if something happens to my daily.
The previous owner said the original motor blew and he put a new one in, but had no paperwork. Excuse me if I’m wrong but I believe he said the motor is a b16, and the car still has the original trans. Is there any way to tell if that’s true?
As for fixing it up, i am starting with checking over for rust and the gas tank and lines then oil change, brakes, I’m gonna change the air filter/spark plugs. In what order should I work at the rest of the underbody? Or is it better to start under the hood first?
thanks in advance!

You honestly need to learn how to research and do basic maintenance before you try to make it "powerful and loud". Nobody is going to teach you how to work on a car over the internet. Go to the junkyard and practice removing things.
lmfao !

Now you have a 94 Integra and the owner said he swapped a B16 in it.. well the B16 is a Vtec engine similar to the B18C-1 and B18C-5 except its a 1.6L while the B18's are 1.8L so the B16 is a tad bit under power compared to the 1.8L engines. Depending on what model Integra you have such as LS or GSR the engine choice he made might not be the most ideal but it will work and also has Vtec. There is 1.8L B series engines that are non vtec that come in the LS and RS models.
Check to see if there is a Vinn number on the trans. The trans can be hard to check to determine what it really is you will either have to tear it apart and have it inspected or see what your RPMs are at in certain gears driving to get a better idea of whats in there. The casings on the B series Trans are all identical and can be hard to identify. If the car is a LS Integra and if what the last owner said is true you might have a B16 engine with a LS trans or if you have a GSR model its possible the original GSR trans is on the B16 engine.
Check the stamps on the engine block and cylinder head and report what they say, If you have a B16 you will clearly see B16 stamped on the block, Remember these engines are literally like legos! you could have a GSR trans, a B16 bottom block and a GSR cylinder head for all we know because it can work! so you need to find what the stamps on the engine block and head say.
Start with the basics, change the air filter and oil! change the spark plugs with NGK plugs and wires and do simple maintenance like distributor cap and rotor along with the plugs and wires. You can grab or buy a cheap timing gun and check the timing which is very important and set the timing in case its off spec, its very easy and you could watch a video such as the video on youtube from Eric the car guy and he shows how to check the timing. This can greatly increase performance and help the engine run at its very best!
Check out skunk2 they sell allot of decent parts for the Integra, They sell a nice street coil over setup that is affordable and works well for daily driving as well as there exhaust systems are good too, check ut there sport coil over setup it runs about $500 and there 60 mm street version exhaust setup . Don't forget to get the matching camber kits for the front and rear when you get the coil over set up to properly set the alignment after the install.
