Working through the bugs in my recently acquired car. The SRS light on being one of my issues. Searching through YouTube videos I've found many how to work the problem on 2000+ models but nothing specific to my 98. Such as jumping the 4 and 9 pins in the OBD plug to have the SRS light flash the trouble codes. This trick does not seem to work in at least my 98. Has anyone had any luck with that?
Also reseting the whole system by jumping the 2 wire yellow plug and turning the ignition on and off 3 times. First I don't know where this plug is in the 98 Integra. I assume it's under the steering wheel behind the cover held by 2 screws at the bottom and ?something? at the top of the cover which I can't get to come loose to get this cover off and out of the way. This cover has the change flip out door and also the fuse box cover incorporated into it. All for looking for this stupid plug?
How the hell do you get that cover off without breaking something? What am I not seeing that holds this cover at the top? Seam just below the AC duct?
I don't know if jumping this plug will work as it does on other cars as seen in these videos?
Many parts stores will read OBD-II trouble codes for no charge. The OBD reader/scanner has to be capable of reading Honda SRS trouble codes, which many of the ones that parts store have can read.
There is another option to read the SRS trouble codes, and that is to jump the the 2P SCS (service check) connector with a small paper clip or wire and count the blinks on the SRS indicator.
In regards the SRS Memory Erase Service (MES) connector location, that is located in a holder in the under-dash fuse box.
Thank you a ton for providing this!!! Exactly what I need!
So to be clear, the plug to jump under the glove box is loose and not plugged into anything? This to read the codes instead of the OBD plug deal I previously mentioned?
The reset is plugged into the fuse box area under the steering wheel area under that panel I can't get off. Any ideas on getting that panel off? The diagram says not to use a jumper wire, which I have no idea why that would be a problem when that part SCS service connector sure looks like a jumper wire with a nice plug that fits the female plug. I wonder where I could get one of those right quick???
The SCS connector is an alternative to reading trouble codes vs. the OBD-II port. The SCS connector may be loose and hanging if someone previously used it; otherwise, it may be taped to another harness wire loom and/or plugged into a dummy holder.
Many people just use a jumper wire or small paper clip.
To remove the lower dash cover, you have to pull out the coin tray, then unscrew the screw behind that. There are two other screws that need to be removed. (3 screw total). The rest holding it on are clips. Also disconnect the electrical connector that may be attached to items on the lower dash cover.
In this image, disregard removing the instrument panel part and other 2 screws.
