Default Honda CRV Sputter

I have a 2012 Honda CRV EX-L and I am experiencing an engine sputter at around 40 kms/hr, with no engine light coming on.

As I accelerate slowly from a dead stop the transmission changes gears around 40 kms/hrs, RPM drops normally during gear change, and if I hold the gas pedal constant I get the engine sputter, while in the engine sputter if I depress the gas slightly the sputter goes away.

Severity of the sputter can vary from low to high with seemingly no rhyme or reason.

Any thoughts / suggestions?

Is it a sputter or a shudder?

Well, I guess you could say shudder.
If shudder = shakes, and sputter = misfire, then yes it is shuddering.

Thanks for the suggestion, the trans fluid was low. I topped it up and the issues improved but is not completely gone. I wonder if a filter and fluid change would help?
