Recommended Parts Brand for Brake Pads and Rotors
I want to replace the brake pads and rotors on my 2011 Honda Accord EX Coupe, but do not want to use Honda OEM parts.
I am not looking to go with cheaper parts. Nor, do I want to go with super high performance parts. I just want an OEM type part that is better than the original crappy Honda rotors.
Which brand of replacement rotors and brake pads do you recommend?
A bit of background:
I normally use genuine Honda parts for my Honda and Acura maintenance and repairs, but in this case, I am reluctant to use Honda OEM rotors because the original rotors on my car warped soon after I purchased the car (new from the dealer). The car has always had a slight shimmy when the brakes are applied at highway speeds (around 50 – 65 mph).
I am afraid I will run into the same problem if I go with Honda rotors.
I have always had good experience with Honda OEM pads in the past, so I have no issue going with them, but I would like recommendation for a brake pads (if anyone has good experience with non-Honda pads).
Thanks in advance,
Dean

I've had great luck with Autozone's 'gold' brake rotors. I only replaced one side with it, and it's going strong after 3 years/40k miles.
Been using Hawk HPS brake pads ($65 pair).
Hawk pads lasted 2.5 years/30,000 miles, and wore out evenly. 70% highway miles. Front suspension was in 'good' shape. They leave a lot of brake dust, on the wheel. Be sure to bed the pads, as this could lead to 'warped' rotor.
There are many factors that play a role in brake wear though.
