Hey, all. I have a 1998 Honda Prelude Base Model and I'm running into issues getting my smog done. I'm in California and went to get my smog done to find out I need an E.O. Sticker and I can't figure out what brand the intake is. I messaged KN/AEM and claimed it wasn't theirs. I attached a photo of it below, any suggestions or thoughts, would be appreciated.
What did the inspection center say about it. It looks to be homemade based of the fact that it uses two different pipes with different finishes (typically an aftermarket brand intake is one piece)
Yup that looks cobbled together from random stuff, not something that a company would produce. You're best bet would probably be to find a stock intake setup, or buy a new intake that is CARB certified.
I would talk to your SMOG inspection center and try to convince them to let you keep that intake on there and still get the sticker. If they won't let you, then you kinda have to do what "snobordboy" said and either get an OEM intake or buy a CARB Certified aftermarket intake. Your never going to find the multiple companies that made the parts that make up yours on the California Parts # list, which sucks because its just an air intake, it's a couple of aluminum tubes and a clamp on air filter after all, not exactly rocket science, its not something that is going to effect emissions one way or another too greatly.
