At some point the bezel in my si was swapped w/an EX one, so it lights up white/blue
Is it as simple as changing bulbs or are the parts actually different. I know they have different part numbers.

Awesome, I checked part numbers and they are different, I didnt wanna buy the bulbs and it not work.
The bezel is the same. The controls are different and the bulbs have the orange condom instead of the blue one . Inside the ac control is a tinted film that also has the hot / cold settings. Using the ex version with the amber bulb results in purple instead of blue on the cool setting.
It would be easier to just buy an si HVAC control **** panel. If I recall correctly it is pretty difficult to even replace the bulbs and as mentioned the blue hue of an ex panel will cause the orange bulbs to look purple. You would have to peel off the sticker for the HVAC controls to scrape the blue hue off of the back and I just dont see that working very well

Order the correct bulbs from Honda and swap them in.
No, you are wrong. Swapping the bulbs will illuminate amber, which is where you are right. Where you are wrong is the blue portion appears purple instead of the correct and expected blue that is on every car . I have the real ones and have gone down the same route swapping the bulbs on the ex version. I even had to swap the films inside on a broken unit with a ex one. If you are okay with the hot and cold settings looking funky then your route will work just fine. The LED suggestion is a matter of opinion. To me it looks ricey and tacky.

Thanks for the info from everyone though.
