Default Inner Tie Rod 53521-S5A-003 Too Long

Good day, i hope someone can help me or at least enlighten me about what might be going on with some issue i'm facing after i purchased a genuie Honda autopart which does not match the one my car is currently using.

Beforehand, we're talking about a Civic 2001, 1.7L MT LX, 4 doors.

I bought the inner tie rod having this part number 53521-S5A-003 so i could replace the used one (which is not a Honda genuine part).

The problem is the old and new tie rods don't match, there is a longitude difference between them of approximately 1 and a half inch, the genuine one is larger than the used one! Please see the attached image.

Both of the new rod's threads match the ones of the used rod. However, the whole inner-outer rod set becomes too long in order to assemble it to the knuckle.

What's going on? Maybe i bought the wrong part, even though the manual says it's the correct one?

If a USDM car, you can confirm parts numbers for your car with hondapartsnow.com

The online oem parts dealers might be more accurate than a manual.

Hope you find this helpful.

That is the correct part number for a USDM '01 Civic... now the real question is, did your aftermarket inner tie rod actually come as a complete inner/outer set and your outer tie rod is longer than the factory outer tie rod is ? You may have to purchase the complete OE inner/outer tie rod assembly to verify the total length. The OE part number is 53541-S5A-000. If you don't want to pony up the $$$, you may have to compare your new one with an original found in a salvage yard.

Well, i'm actually in Venezuela, so i'm guessing my Civic was assembled in the US. And yes, i also went to hondapartsnow.com to verify it's the correct part number.

It's the inner tie rod only, as shown in the picture. There is no problem with the outer tie rod end longitude, in fact i'm actually not replacing it.

Maybe it's all about a factory package mislabelling? Maybe it's actually for another civic model (like a CVR) and something happened with the original label? And the less probable, maybe it's a factory defective part?
