Default Gauge cluster lights

I recently purchased a del sol and the speedometer didnt work right, so i bought another and swapped it out so mine would work. It was going fine and it worked, so i went ahead and installed some LED cluster lights while i was at it.I just placed them in they didnt come on at all, and even the dimmer switch component smelt burnt, so I swapped it out with my other one, just thinking it came to me already messed up. But nothing came on and a fuse blew, which i thought it was just from the radio i had to install, because that happened the day before. So I replaced the fuse and turned it back on, but didnt notice any dash lights, and then it smelt as if this dimmer switch burnt. Im not sure how the LEDs could have done it, just looking for any advice, dont want to purchase ANOTHER dimmer switch or cluster and instantly blow that one as well. I have tried both dimmer switches with the stock bulbs just to make sure, but nothing happens. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

make sure the ILLUMINATION wire is either connected or properly taped off. This wire has +12VDC when the radio is on. Did you get the bulb kit for the gauge?

I took the radio back out and didn’t see anything grounding out, but I know it had to blow the fuse initially for some reason. But the illumation on my radio has been constant. And yes I got the bulb kit for the back lights on the gauge cluster. I have another dimmer switch coming in, just afraid that it will blow right of the go. I’ll replace it with the stock bulbs first, even though I don’t see how that could Ben the problem. Funny thing is when I was swapping it over to the other cluster I put one led in it to see if they worked, and it did, I could tell the led light worked. But I came in and swapped the speedometer out (which was the reason I got another cluster to have a working speedometer) and popped in the led bulbs. Put it in blew fuse, and at that time I thought it was radio again. Pulled radio and checked and put fuse back in and it burnt the dimmer switch.
