Re: Tell Us Your Pinnacle of Performance, Win Yokohama's New ADVAN Apex™ Tires!
My first track event was on May 22nd, I had a lot of fun! I met new people and made new friends. I didn't really have enough money left to get some track tires, so I had to use the ones I already had on, which were some cheap all-season tires.

My first track event was attending Track Night in America at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in 2015. The TNiA events were relatively new in the region and the bang for buck was tough to beat. The event was well organized and the price for three 20 minute sessions was affordable and definitely cheaper than a speeding ticket! I was hooked and definitely look forward to these events yearly.

My first time at the drag strip was with my 98 stock honda Accord ex automatic, with a blow by on cylinder 1. Ran times in the 17s and 18s but i thought that was decent for how it was at the time.

If you look closely you will see my wife along for the ride at a Porsche Club of Santa Barbara autocross at Camarillo Airport. The Porsche guys were a bit put out about my Honda showing up for their event. Imagine their surprise when my wife came back for the next event in her GT86. Sharing an interest with your spouse is my Pinnacle of Performance.

While it was a long time ago and we have had other peaks since, my first Pinnacle of Performance was in 1985.
We were racing our SCCA Showroom Stock VW Rabbit GTI at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. We had the first set of Yokohama 008R in the area. We were able to set a new qualifying record and track record.
We went on to win the race in class for a clean sweep.
Re: Tell Us Your Pinnacle of Performance, Win Yokohama's New ADVAN Apex™ Tires!
This month was the last event for Nasa Utah. It was a beautiful day and looked like the track would be fast. I was excited because made quite a bit of changes to the car. First session is usually slow because of the cold track but I was farther back from the rest of the pack than normal. Car was understeering quite a bit so checked tire pressures after. Way off! Second session car felt a little better and the track was fast but still behind the pack. During the lunch break borrowed another racers alignment equipment and got tow work. Reset everything to the correct specs and got ready for the third session. Car felt great but since i was slow the previous session was stuck behind a couple cars and couldn't get by. Attempted a pass and the other car started to pull into me so I backed off. Got frustrated. and exited the track. This is TT mind you. After that I talked to the cars I caught up with and they agreed to let me grid in front of them. Fourth session was clear sailing! Drove the hell out of the car and didn't see anyone in my mirrors so knew it was a good session. Once off track a friend ran over who was checking times and congratulated me. Apparently shaving off 3 seconds putting me into first place and setting a track record for the event! I would of never hit my pinnacle with out hard work, determination and the help of others. Thanks for reading.

This past May I went to summit point and ran on the Shenandoah circuit with track daze just running hpde. I had an absolute blast! First time out on a track in my Frankenstein built 94 del sol. I got to try out my newly built b18c1 and quickly found out it was to much motor for my brakes and tires. The brakes I have fixed but still on the same tires. Need something better for sure.

Composed Variety of cars attended Flyin
Attended a special gathering of YouTube personalities: Speed Academy, TheStraightpipes, Gears & Gasoline, Savagegeese and fans were in attendance at Toronto Motorsports Park. Great day meeting everyone and celebs there. It was an opportunity to take the Civic Type R to the track pulling out of daily dolrums of commuting and errand running and see what it could do. Glad to report it didnt skip a beat all day. Wasnt a day to set any lap records - there was far too much traffic but it was still a fabulous day to enjoy mixing it up with different cars like Ariel Atom 3S, FRS/BRZ, 911, Golf R, RX7, Supra, Corvette. Drove home with nothing but worn tires, brakes and big grin on my face. All in days work right lol
One Civic Type R owner drove all the way from Halifax, Nova Scotia 1100 miles (1800kms) to attend. That's was so awesome.
Re: Tell Us Your Pinnacle of Performance, Win Yokohama's New ADVAN Apex™ Tires!
Some of my favorite events I have ever done are the SCCA Track Night in America events. I start with this because if you've ever done a regular whole day event it typically takes an early morning, lots of preparation and an entire day.
Just getting out there for a few sessions and seeing what your car can do is the best way to go about modifying it. You'll notice that tires are the #1 ingredient to having a fun day and a fast time (but we aren't timing them at these events).
The last event I did was a Hot Hatch Challenge from OnGrid. They have 3 classes to enter depending on what car you have and what modifications you have determine your class. For my class of street I was able to take home first place by a very narrow margin. Overall it was a blast just getting to compete with some cool people and have fun talking about setups and changes we've made to the car. I'd highly recommend anyone who's on the fence to just get some nice tires and go for it. The beginner groups almost always offer a free instructor especially if its a SCCA event. Go out there and see what you and your car can do in a controlled environment its the most fun you can have... legally. You'll definitely be hooked on the smells, sites, sounds and feel of the whole day.

Last race of the year with SCCA for Pacific Coast Championship.
Saturday had electrical issues and no brakes, could not do the first race.
Sunday all bugs were done and we where able to secure 2nd place on the final race.
I was running Toyo RR, will try something else in the near future.
