Default GC Spring Rates for my 1/4 Mile Beast?

Ready to buy my GC's, undecided on spring rates BUT I read a lot of threads in this forum and have an idea...

Here are the parts that affect my suspension:

1989 CRX Si
16" Spoon replica wheels
205 45 16 Potenza RE760 Sport tires
AGX shocks
Suspension Techniques 7/8" 22mm rear sway
Suspension Techniques 7/8" 22mm front sway bar
B20 VTEC engine 236 hp tuned on eCtune
Front traction bar
Skunk2 front and rear camber kits
Battery in the trunk

Car is built for racing in the street and on the strip but I also want to DD it 1-2 times per week. It is not gutted but I'm going to eliminate the rear seats and install an X bar. I'm in Puerto Rico and the roads aren't the best but the tracks are great. I've never run Solo X but might try it eventually. I'm thinking somewhere in the 400/350 range. I'm ready to go higher but not too keen on going lower unless someone can convince me why. Also, when I order the springs do I choose 7" vs 8"? If what are the criteria or benefits of one over the other?

Here is a picture of my inspiration. I have the same wheels as the CRX in the pic and want the same exact stance and tire to fender gap. Please reply if you are experienced as there are a few people on here who post without a solid background and this is a very important decision for my build and the reason I give so much detail on my car. Thank you!

450 FRONT
350 REAR

That should do the trick

Thanks NV - what's your background with suspension. Are you talking from experience? I agree with 450F but why 350 rear - because of the sway bar? Why not 400?

Spring rates should be based on each corners weight. For example if you were to corner balance the car and had it on the scales and the front was let's say on average 600 per corner you would buy a spring rate of 600 for the front. If you weigh the rears and each corner is on average 350 you would get a 350 spring rate.

no. do not base it on weight of the corner. poor advise.

what DO you base it on? experience and goals. you need to try it. are you going for lap times or comfort?

i have nothing to comment about about some "1/4 mile beast".

Really? For drag racing this is exactly how you would do it, but don't take my word contact Strange Engineering.

I tried writing all the information so that everyone could make their suggestions:

I'm in Puerto Rico and the roads aren't the best but the tracks are great. I've never run Solo X but might try it eventually. I'm thinking somewhere in the 400/350 range. I'm ready to go higher but not too keen on going lower unless someone can convince me why. Also, when I order the springs do I choose 7" vs 8"? If what are the criteria or benefits of one over the other?

thats a lot of words to say "nothing special".

what springs do you have now, and why are you looking change?

go with off the shelf GC rates 350/250 with your AGX. its more than fine for a daily CRX and fun to drive.

and lose your front swaybar. its not helping you turn better.

you can get the full range of reasonable drops with 7 or 8" lengths. you seem to like being slammed, so 7" are going to help get you there. other than that, theres no performance difference.

these questions have been asked and answered a lot.

Everything you just said goes 100% against the recommendations of GC tech support who BASED ON MY SUSPENSION PARTS and the STANCE I WANT clearly show the OTS rates are NOT OPTIMAL. Your "I KNOW EVERYTHING" attitude is also tiring...

I have that on my Del Sol and it works fine. From what I recall, most spring rates I've seen are in increments with "50" on the end, 350, 450, etc....

Since the motor/tranny is in the front, you want it to be more firm there and a tad lighter on the rear.
