Canadian 97-98 serial bin tags
Hi there, I'm the owner of R 98-0916. Have owned her for about 2 years now. I'm trying to find out if the transmission is the original one. So my concern is the green serial vin on the transmission. Mine doesn't have it. Unfortunately my cars original short block was replaced years ago by Acura due to oil consumption. I've seen somewhere a while back that apparently the Canadian spec 97-98 R's didnt have the green vin plate on the transmission, and I know that the cdm 97 and 98s didnt come with the body vin stickers. I have a j4d lsd stamp on mine like a usdm one. My car has a clean title. Never stolen nor crashed. Just wondering if anyone on HT with a cdm 97 or 98 can confirm that for me and would like to find out if its the cars original transmission. I'm well aware that all us spec cars came with them along with all body vin stickers. Thanks in advance
I have a 97 cdm type r and it never came with any tags on motor or tranny. Also, no serial tags on body panels. One other 97 I know of is the same. I posted on here a while ago regarding this and the feedback was that all 97 integra type r's never came with anything. however never heard anything about the 98's.
here is the thread i posted. So Cdm 97's do not have any tags or serial numbers other than dash and firewall.

Hey, thanks for that info. I've doing some research and found some pics of 97 and 98 Canadian Rs and it seems as if they didn't have the body vin stickers or engine/trans green tag as well. I know for a fact that as of 99 and up they had them. Your info further confirms that. Thank you
The 97r does have vin tags I owned 2 still have 1 . On both my transmissions the vin tags fell off most likely from nvh . They are held in with rivets that seem to be pushed in not screwed in like on the 01 itr from what I read. I remember when I purchased my cars the vins were there then one day I check oil and I see them gone. I was like wtf lol. And yes no vin stickers on Canadian 97r it was a USA requirement I’m not sure about 98 though
