Default Hey there. Researching D16/D17 builds for a Classic Mini Swap i have planned.

Hey there,

I am invading your community to learn a little about how your engines can be built up and worked on. I live in Italy so the options are limited and information is hard to find.

I intend to build a classic mini cooper with a custom subframe that allows me to fit in a D16/D17 or B16 engine.

B16 are not that common here and the D series seems to give me a little more room in the SUPER tight engine bay, so I can still have AC.

I do plan on running a speeduino based ECU, so i dont have to care about emissions nor piggybacking the ecu. I do want an engine with Coilpacks like the D16v1 or the D17 as they will include the crank sensor and Coilpacks to make the conversion easier. They are also newer the the other d16's found here and hopefully will be in better shape.

I mostly want to know about changing the intake manifolds for ones that actually fit in the mini engine bay, how to safely remove all EGR/Evap **** since I dont need it, and what Trans to run to have decent engine speeds while cruising on 12 inch wheels.

If you have any advice or know where to point me, i would very much appreciate it.
