Security reccomendations for 92 civic hatch?
Heya.. I've been a lurker around here for years and most of the smaller repairs my car has needed I've been able to do myself thanks to this site.. My civic is my world.. and my world came crashing down on Monday because someone somehow got in and drove it out of my home/work parking lot and took it to a nearby casino where they left it for two days? Basically just a joyride. I thought for sure I'd never see it again. But I live in a really shitty redneck mining town in rural Oregon and the woods around here are full of graveyards of stripped cars.. it's really bad.. sort of an outlaw town on the edge of the county.. and a lot of the ransacked cars are Hondas. I figured for sure that the locals had taken my car to part out to score or something.. but it's dumb because there's cameras all over the parking lot where I park my car. And everyone this tiny town (like population 200) knows I'm the evening waitress at the only restaurant in this town... and that my place is just behind the restaurant..so.. I've got to do something to make my car safer. I know that steering wheel locks are recommended but if someone really wanted my car I'm sure they could get that **** off. I never realized how stupid easy it is to get my car started because there was no evidence of a break in or anyone ******* with the ignition. I don't even think they had a key. And my hatch is getting old so the plastic bullshit inside the doors that controls the interior door locks have essentially crumbled... so the doors only unlock/lock with my key. And both windows are off track.
I guess my question is... the locals already have taken notice that I'm this young girl who parks her car in the same business every night.. I'm looking for advice on what kind of security measures I should invest in.. I know you can take a 90's honda with basically a screwdriver.. anyone have any ideas of ways to keep the locals off my ***..

A good alarm install with a GPS tracking unit.
Research the Viper VSM550. Its a paid service that allows you to keep tabs on your car via the app they provide.
There are other options as well depending on your budget.

This way, they can't even start the car at all. However, it's $600. Might be worth it. They can still get in and mess up your interior though.

Depends on your budget you’re willing to spend
under 100 bucks?
steering wheel lock
clutch/ brake lock
a kill switch dedicated to fuel pump
a kill switch dedicated to main relay
Unplug 2-3 injectors
unolug distributor
unplug map sensor
unplug starter
Pull the driver side shock tower harness plug every night
or 300-400 bucks?
a nice compustar / viper alarm buy one online they cost
viper 5303v around 110-140 shipped 1/4 mile range ebay or compustar cs5502 $100-130 1500ft or
compustar 7900as $ 130-150 3000ft
then find a quality wiring guy who solders and heatshrinks his connections install your car alarm basic install
or atleast bare minimum butt crimps (solder and heatshrink preceded but most do the butt crimps)
usually that would cost $100-$200 depending on the installer. Just make sure he does not do no electrical tape + twist wires together
After that. You’re pretty safe majority of the time
once you get an alarm you should still get a steering wheel lock / brake clutch lock just for reassurance for you. And extra detergent for thieves

I've had compustar alarms in the past with no problems. I would recommend them. The easiest and cheapest would be a steering wheel lock, and it's obvious from looking in the window.

those steering wheel lock (the CLUB) can be defeated by cutting the steering wheel. Honestly, do you really think the thief cares about your car that he won't damage things to take it?
