EF Hatch vs. EG Hatch (Plus Old School EF Hatch Photos)
Hi all!
For 7 months, I've been learning how to drive stick in a beat up, rusty Honda Civic EG/EJ1 coupe, but I finally sold it off to someone since I felt that it had served it's purpose. I was thinking about restoring it and such, but was never able to so it since I was jobless and preoccupied with school. I've always had the itch to properly join the Honda game and the car community in general, and I'm thinking the best way to do it would be through buying another Civic! (Clean 2000 Integra GSRs in flamenco black pearl are hard to come by ) Now that I finally have a decent job and a little bit of cash, I've been browsing Craigslist and OfferUp for EF and EG hatches, and although I'm finding much better examples for EGs, I can't find any clean EFs anywhere. Is this a sign? Should I go for the EG? I know that EGs are easier to work with and have more aftermarket support, but they just don't seem as "cool" as the EF. I'd appreciate it if you guys shared your experiences and reasons for loving either the EF, EG or both!
P.S I'm biased towards the EF because my father owned a 1989 Civic Si. It had a D16A6 bored/stroked to 1.8L, Crower Rods, JE Pistons, a "Stage 2" cam, and a GReddy Turbo Kit. Not to mention the old school stuff like ZSpeed strut tower bars and the Wings West kit!

There are clean ones out there, but most of what I see are west coast cars. Check the EF facebook groups. It might be worth having one shipped.
Thanks! Unfortunately, he had to sell it back in the early 2000s to help support our family. I think it went to a distant relative that lived down in L.A. It's sad to think that the car has most likely been stripped or destroyed; he still talks about that car all the time.
I'll try my luck with Facebook then, considering I live in California. Thanks again for your response!

Clean efs are out there you just gotta search a little harder if that’s what you want. Egs are definitely easier to get the ball rolling on a build with but I’ve always felt that super clean efs really get allot of respect because they aren’t as common as egs, eks or integras due to age and rust killing off allot of them.
