Is my immobilizer working?
Hello guys and gals,
I recently purchased a 2004 CR-V EX-L and go two keys and no remotes. One key looks like original Honda key and the other is not and when I put the key in the ignition I get that green key indicator. . Yesterday I was looking at wiring a GPS tracking device and shorted something while messing with the wires and blew a fuse. The car started fine but the green key indicator did not appear, the radio did not work and the power door locks opened with the door buttons but did not close. Today I drove to a hardware store purchased fuses and replaced the a 10Amp fuse under the hood and everything back to normal. The question is, does that mean my immobilizer has been disconnected or bypassed?
Thanks

Thanks tech8. That was my point and question. Since a blown fuse would not disable the immobilizer does that mean:
1- The immobilizer functioned properly and the car started because I had the proper key and the indicator not coming on is just that.
Or
2- The car shouldn't have started because the indicator didn't come on meaning the immobilizer couldn't function without the fuse and that the car started meant that the immobilizer has been disconnected/bypassed before I purchased the car.
Thanks

The immobilizer functioned properly and the car started because you had the proper key. The indicator in the gauge did not come on because under-hood Fuse No. 9 (10A) was blown and no power (+) was supplied to the indicator bulb. Under-hood Fuse No. 9 also supplies power to the Immobilizer Control Unit Receiver; but, that is not the only source of power.
The immobilizer system consists of the ignition key, immobilizer control unit-receiver, immobilizer system indicator, PGM-FI main relays, fuel pump and the ECM/PCM. With the ignition switch in ON (II) or START (III),the immobilizer control unit-receiver and the ECM/PCM receive an “ignition on” signal through Under-hood Fuse No. 6 (15A) and the PGM-FI main relay 1. The ECM/PCM then sends power to the ignition key transponder through the immobilizer control unit-receiver. The transponder then sends a coded signal back to the ECM/PCM through the receiver. If the signal is correct, the ECM/PCM will energize the car’s fuel supply system by grounding the PGM-FI main relay 2.
