My shifter was getting harder to put into gear last time I drove it, so I took it back home and when I tried to put into park it would not go! I definitely didn't want to force it and couldn't have even if I tried. So I was able to shut engine off but keys are stuck in ignition. What is the cause? Is there a way to bypass and put into park? Any help would be appreciated!!

 

Pry out small plastic cover with screwdriver and insert a key to move shifter into park.

 

I actually just got done doing this a bit ago...I still couldn't put it into park, but I was able to get my keys out of the ignition finally. My shifter won't budge at all.

Remove the cover and check the park pin switch. Sounds like it's stuck because pushing a key into the hole should release the shifter.

 

I will try that tomorrow in the daylight. How do I remove cover? Where is the park pin switch? If you don't mind giving me directions, again I appreciate your replies, haven't had much success with getting any help and I'm low on funds to take to Mechanic right now!
