Default anyone know why civics from 96+ kept increasing in weight year over year?

I see the 96 dx coupe weighs 2262 and then the 97 dx coupe weighs 2324???? where did the extra 50 pounds come from? Then you look at the 98 dx coupe and it weighs in at 2342... this goes the same for the ex's hatches and sedans... anyone know reason for this? BTW i got these figures straight off nada.com. Thanks

anyone know reason for this?
Maybe your source is wrong. My Helms says they all weigh 3000+. One or the other is way off.

Well I hate to go against what the great HELMS says but its WRONG! There is no way that a civic DX coupe weighs even cose to 3000.. that would means that the dx weighs more than a prelude? dunno bout that.. maybe 3000 is for kilograms? damn metric system!

Lets see. Helms say a 98-99 2-door dx coupe (USA) weighs 3290 lbs. I see the problem, that's with an engine and transmission in it.

3200lbs? Are you sure you are not looking at gross vehicle wght? that is the max lbs. the vehicle can weigh completely loaded down 4-5 people and full trunk ie: max carrying load plus weight of car. Older cars are lighter because Honda and other manufacturers have meet more stringent safety standards every couple of years. More safety=more metal to protect us=more weight.

i highly doubt its in kilograms, because if it was kilos, that would mean even more pounds. 3000kg * 2.2 = 6600lbs

highly unlikey
