Default H swap build

All while trying to fix my cars fuel issues, I'm building a replacement h22a to swap the A4 out. Was considering using an f20b DOHC vtec head, thoughts? Any advice would help

F20B head has smaller combustion chamber and intake valves. Stick with an H22 head if possible.

F20B head will work if you have no other options and it's a stock-ish rebuild. Just wouldn't recommend it for anything serious on an H22 block. You can use a PDE head which is a better version of the P13 head but they are a little more rare and probably expensive.

I am not planning on boost. The pistons I have a 11-1 compression, thought maybe the f20 head would help lower that just a tad. I'm going all on hear say. Im learning as I go with my car. First time building or fixing anything.

11:1 compression is a non-issue for boost, fyi. Also it would be the opposite of your thinking. Smaller combustion chamber of the F20B head = more compression.

I see what you are saying. It would squeeze the air even tighter before combustion. For the time being it might be my only option. A buddy of mine is helping me out by giving the head to me. My wife and I are on a very tight budget
