2006 Honda CRV Propeller Shaft Replacement forgot to mark
Hello Honda-Tech,
I am replacing a propeller shaft in a 2006 CRV, due to a vibration. I forgot to mark the previous shaft bolt points, and believe I have moved the rear wheels when bolting up. I am getting a chattering sound. We had the rear differential fluid changed at the dealer first, to see if that fixed the vibration we are having (no luck).
My question is, is there a specific alignment or synchronization of the front and rear differentials? If so, any ideas how to figure out where they should both be? I see a yellow dot on the front, and blue on the rear, however I haven't been able to get them both at the same point. Scratching my head, hence the ID I chose for Honda-Tech.

To clarify the chattering sound is new after putting it back together?
What does the service manual say?
Generally it says make preservation marks before removal but these are not for avoiding balanceissues from what I have been told

Yes, chattering happened after replacement of the propeller shaft. I don't have a service manual. Yeah.... got bit by rushing and not marking it.
There are no alignment or sync issues when bolting a shaft back in. However if the propeller shaft was not constructed correctly and the U-joints are not in phase you will have issues.
Update.... the replacement propeller shaft was defective. It took away the vibration, however was making a periodic chattering noise. So after many attempts to figure it out, punt!
I put the old shaft back in, vibration back, but chattering gone. Time to order a higher quality shaft I guess.
If there is a link to an online manual, please provide, as I couldn't find one online.
Thank you for the input on this!
