Hey guys. New to the forum. Did some searches on my specific issue but no luck. Here's what's up.
I have a 92 Honda Civic, not sure of the trim level. I had quite a few Cluster swaps done, no prob. Everything worked. Until the speedo and temp gauge failed on my last one. Went out and purchased a manual cluster (speedo goes up to 220 kmph) and everything worked but the back light. Thought it was a faulty cluster. Ignored it. Went and tried two other speedos that go up to 220kmph, same issue. Keep in mind the backlight works fine on my crapped out one that only goes up to 180kmph. I pulled the harness for the two clusters to compare and the only difference is that mine is missing the harness pin and connection for the dimmer. Is that my prob and what can I do about it ?
Harness comparison. Front is the one I got with the new cluster.
NB: Dimmer switch not included in this trim level. Idk of that could be a thing
FIXED IT!
Due to my original harness not having a dimmer/ground connection, I need to insert a pin into that connection and run it to a ground. Just in case anyone else runs into this problem Old cluster New cluster

Cluster removed, jump the illumination bulbs to a source of 12 volts to prove that they work. The most common reason for something on a car to not light up is the bulb itself, and if the previous owner liked to drive with them at full bright (because he never read the manual that there was a dimmer control) it is common for every single one to be burned out.
Do the other backlights-- on the heater control panel and in the ashtray and lighter-- work?
Both sides of the bulbs should be brought out to the harness plugs. The hot side of the bulbs comes direct from the tail light circuit (red wire with white stripe I think). There was no separate fuse until the 6th generation. The ground side of the bulb passes through the dimmer on a solid red wire.

I checked each bulb individually and they all work fine. Heater control panel lights up as well. Clock dims when dash light is supposed to be on. I'll add in a pic of my current harness and the harness that came with the cluster soon.
