Default Tachometer isn’t reading right

I just swapped a b18c1 into my ls integra. I installed an OBD1 ecu from HA Motorsports. My issue is I’m running the original ls gauge cluster and the rpms aren’t reading correctly. At 8300 rpm it shows 6500 rpm. Or if I rev it in neutral the gauge spazzes out. I contacted HA Motorsports about the issue and they said it was because I’m using my stock tach. Does anyone know if this is true? Do I have to get a gsr tach?

What year Integra? You should be able to use your original cluster with no problem.
You might have to run a wire directly from the Blue wire on the distributor plug all the way to the plug on the shock tower or to the plug that plugs to the back of the cluster itself depending on what year engine harness your using to get a solid signal.

Are you using a conversion harness for the ECU?

Try posting a pic of the distributor harness plugs, both the male and female connectors.

Yes I’m using an OBD1 conversion harness. I’ll try to get pics tomorrow. I don’t have the car with me atm.

Also what year is the GSR engine (OBD1 or OBD2?) and what engine harness is being used? The original LS harness or the one that came with the GSR swap?

The gsr engine is obd2. I’m using the ls harness but I have a subharness for vtec wiring.

Doing some research and I think you do need the tach from a GSR to make it work properly, Try a GSR cluster and see if it works, I think the tach can be swapped from the clusters as well but I think it will be easier to just find a GSR cluster and swap it in.

Yea I’d say it drives fine. I mean every now and then the idle fluctuates. But other than that it runs good. I’ll try another distributor.

Well somehow the issue is gone. About a week ago I took the intake manifold off to fix a coolant leak, and since then the engine is revving all the way out🤷‍♂️ Idk what the issue was but I’m not questioning it
