Crankshaft pulley question
I just rebuilt my D15B2 with an automatic transmission. I have a question about being able to rotate the crankshaft pulley by hand. Should I be able to rotate the crankshaft pulley by hand with my transmission mounted? I could before I put the trans back on, but as soon as I tried with it mounted wouldn't budge. This is normal correct? I have a couple things left to do before firing it up but want to make sure before I destroy my rebuilt engine. I heard from multiple sources that I shouldn't be able too but I want a Honda D series specific answer lol. Thanks for any insight on this issue.
With the transmission in neutral you should absolutely be able to turn the engine over with a socket on the crank pulley. I am assuming the engine turned over fine before it was connected to the transmission?
Yes, it turned over fine. I just replaced the crankshaft, main bearings, rod bearings, water pump, tensioner, timing belt, woodruff key. I don't know if it's neutral or not but I got it back in the car need a couple more things and I should be able to start it. Hopefully all is well. This is my first engine rebuild, I double checked everything, torqued down everything to spec no bolts or anything backing out. Mind you I haven't even put the fluids back in yet just finished connecting all my sensors ran into a couple issues with minor stuff.
