Default 97 GSR Ek Coupe

Hey H-T! I ran into a problem today which left me utterly frustrated. My car recently decided to take a poop on me and every time i went to start up the car i would only hear the starter relay click once, So of course i attempted to replace the starter. I have a 97 Civic EX With a full 98 B18C1, i bought a starter FOR a 1998 Integra GSR from Vatozone which was a smidge too big and it kept banging onto my innovative Ek B series swap mounts. I took it back to autozone where we realized the original starter on the car was smaller than the one i purchased. Therefore, we looked around for starters that looked similar to mine, which we found an starter for an automatic that looked very similar to the original one, but it seems like the holes for the bolts are slightly off. What starter for what car should i buy? I wish i still had the part number from the original starter, but the sticker was MESSED UP lol, i DO KNOW that it was from CarQuest and it was smaller than the B18C1 starter autozone sold to me.

Are the transmissions different between B-series?

The way it mounts is but I've never had issues with using oem mounts while swapping in a b18c into an ek. I don't see how he's having issues and I don't think companies would be wise to create a mount thats wild n out. Waste of money.

My question wasn’t related to the mounts. It was related to the transmission, and by extension, its bellhousing and the starter mounting holes.

Not different at all from what I've experienced. I was able to mount a starter from a b16 onto a gsr transmission, no issues.

also, the bracket used to mount a b series in an 96-00 civic sits in front of the mount, there's no way it's the mounts fault.

Sorry I don’t have any pictures ☹️ But they’re innovative mounts it’s on the post mount side. The one they gave me for the b18c1 was rubbing on the metal bracket the mount sits in. Would a 99-00 starter work in a gsr tranny? It seemed like the starter that was in there before may have been an automatic starter. The automatic starter they gave me is the exact size as the original one & the original one worked fine for a few years 😯 would an automatic starter not work on a manual transmission?

Sorry I didn’t get the chance to take any pictures. But would be compatible starters for the gsr transmission? They gave me an automatic starter and it was the same size as the original starter I pulled out. The B18C1 Starter autozone gave me (which I think was from duralast) kept hitting the Innovative post mount bracket not allowing it to sit flush, it was also 1/3 bigger than the one I pulled off the motor. So you said the 99-00 civic si mounted onto your gsr ek coupe? Is it the same size as the gsr’s starter?

theres no way it's the mounts fault when you have the transmission bracket sitting in front of it.
