Default New to me, new to honda

Hey guys new here just got my first Honda car
1993 honda del slow 1.6 VTech

So I actually traded a cbr project for this car and even tho it looks like I should be drinking 5 monsters a day and punching through drywall I love the car.

So a couple quick things. It's got the 1.6 which I'm guessing was re done at some point because the block is like a yellow gold color, why would anyone pull a motor just to paint it right?

It's got msd kit on it larger fuel injectors I'm assuming because they're wired in not regular plugs.

What is the idle on these cars? Mine seems high, might not be since I've never owned a Honda car before.

I got it and changed the master and slave cylinder right away, now my speedo and tach don't work.. any thoughts?

Curious why someone would run different fuel injectors on a stock car as in no turbo.

Thanks.

Oh I'm cool with it, at some point in this cars life someone cared for this car and put some money and work into it. I don't have a problem fixing a couple Kyle's faults along the way.

Perhaps it was turbo in the past and they removed the kit? If it has larger injectors it must have some kind of engine management installed, otherwise it would be running rich, or barely running at all and blowing black smoke.

Pull the ECU and see what was done there. Also post some pics, including engine bay shots so we can give full assessment.

I love me some del slow

Also anyone have any thoughts on how to get this off? It's Phillips head and I can't break the screws free. Even with impact. They're not rusty at all just won't budge. Someone decided to cut the hook part of it so it doesn't latch and removed the key lock

Right side kick panel... where the passenger's right shin would be if sitting in the car. Remove the lid and see if there is a 28-pin chip in the auxiliary chip location (top right corner if the ECU plugs are facing down)... if you can read "27AT256" in the empty green space instead... it is likely that the ECU is stock and those big injectors are causing more harm than good.

Welcome to the site! You seem to be very knowledgeable and ready to learn, so you will fit in great

I like to pull the motors and trans so I can replace everything at once. Once they are out you spend a few nights and spare time clean8ng scrubbing and painting everything (I paint everything silver) to show that youve really done some work and the car has had some ome who cared for it

As for the msd setup, who knows, Kyle was probably going to make it a street racwr as all kyles do.

The speedo connector usually breaks and falls apart over time, check the plug to the sensor I bet it has loose pins or a frayed wire.

Pictures of the engine bay as you complete jobs always help us help you doagnose what's missing or out of place, so we can help diagnose what os wrong

The ECU is stock... and the injectors will be fine since you have newer style plugs already connect to the engine harness... although I would clean up those blue "T-taps" before going any further.

So those injectors aren't hurting anything, not to big or anything?

I had a turbo del sol, pulled the kit off before I sold the car. There's a much better market for a stock-ish car than for one with a homemade turbo kit. That and/or the turbo and other parts were at the end of their life.

Couple of clues that this one may have been turboed.... The valve cover breather. Looks like they deleted the PCV system and just put a filter on it. This is the quickest and cheapest way to remedy the PCV system when boosted. Also no A/C, did it not have one from the factory or was it removed? Lots of room up front there for activities. Could probably find more clues if you look around.

Question is why are the injectors changed with a stock ecu. The injectors need to be identified by brand and part number to determine their flow rate, impedance, etc.

The injectors appear to be stock... so I don't think you have to worry about an "over fueling" issue.

Why would they do that wiring mess just to have stock injectors.

From Left to Right... A/C compressor clutch, A/C condenser fan, not sure on the white/milky colored plug, A/C drier pressure sensor.

It is likely that the Y8 engine already had OBD-2 style stock injectors in it and they simply spliced in the fuel injector plugs to the stock Del Sol Z6 engine harness. They do not have to be a larger size. The ECU does have some salvage yard paint pen writing on the cover "D16Z6" which would indicate that it wasn't the original ECU for the car... was it replaced because the stock ECU failed at some point, or did the previous owner keep the modified/programmable ECU and sourced a salvage yard replacement ???

Too stupid to swap the fuel injectors... and just trying to make it run.

Another special I got with the car, trunk was held down with a bike lock... How can I get this off? I used my impact and couldn't even get them to budge.
