Steering column interchangeability on 96 ek hatch...
Hi anyone know if other years of steering columns /wheels would work for 96 ek hatch. Someone tried to steal my car the other night and ripped out my lock cylinder on steering column. So im guessing i need to at least replace that. I am not a big fan of the 6th gen cuvic steering wheel so i am wondering since im already having to replace the column would other years of column with steering wheel attached work on a 96 ? I cant go aftermarket steering wheel though as i like anyone ive ever seen less those than a 6th gen steering wheel..
5th gen/DC Integra also works, I had to “borrow” the one from my project car temporarily when the same thing happened to me a few years back. You will have to use the steering wheel from that gen, which won’t solve your issue with not liking the design of the wheel.
If you get another 6th gen column, the S2000/RSX/Insight wheel is a direct drop in and even the cruise wiring is easy to adapt. I did this swap on mine this spring, it’s one of the nicest upgrades I’ve done to the car and I got to retain an airbag.

There is a sticky thread above focussed on interchanging parts... I recall steering wheels, airbags, and other details offering complexity... check it out.
