Rod Bearing not Seating Propertly
Rebuilding my d16y7.
I've had many issues with these pistons. One being that I didn't keep the bearing cap with its respected connecting rod, resulting in having to have them machined so that they were married to each other.
Now, the lower half of my rod bearing now sticks up out of its seat, which I imagine can't be good. I will be taking these back to the machine shop to address the issue, but I wanted to get some opinions before doing so.
This is a big issue, right?
And yes, it is seated completely. It literally won't go down any further.
It's my understanding brand new bearings should ride just a touch over the edge. When you torque it down it rounds them out and holds them into place.
I watched a video on bearing replacement and your nail should catch a lip on each side of the cap.
At about 11:30 they talk about the bearing crush.

Yeah, something is bad wrong there. I suggest you get a replacement set of connecting rods (and keep the rod caps with their appropriate/corresponding rod).
