1995 Honda Accord ES Coupe Auto
Yesterday the brake warning light, ABS light and brake lamp lights lit up. The brake pedal feels spongy and travels further before the brakes engage. I have checked the brake and abs reservoirs and these are still nearer to maximum fill. Any thoughts please?
Check for leaks in the line. Even a small leak that doesn't leave obvious evidence can introduce air into the line, and when you press down on the brake pedal, you will have to compress this air first before you get any braking action, and this is the most likely reason your pedal feels spongy.
Sometimes the leak is so small, that you only push brake fluid out when actually braking, but when the brake pedal returns to its normal position, it sucks more air in, making the situation worse.
You should not drive the car until you get this fixed because you risk losing braking, which is both frightening and dangerous. Should this happen, you can use your parking brake to assist, but you don't want to reply on that.
