Thoughts on a ps rack
So I think my steering rack in my 95 wagon is probably needing some serious tlc or replacement (boot on the driver side seems to have a s8gnificant fluid in it) . Is it better to rebuild the thing or just get a reman.? Is there even a good reliable reman out there?
Vote to rebuild your own, rockauto sells the kit for ~$30.
Problem with 'remand' racks is they are usually cobbled together and usually not put back together with the original parts, and then painted black.
My concern with mass rebuilt racks is you are not sure what you are going to get. Externally the housings will be the same and the gear ratio(AFAIK) is the same, but it's the torsion bar inside the pinion shaft that can be different. These are usually matched to pump output pressure, if you get the wrong pinion shaft then the steering may become heavier or lighter than original.

So I looked at the 4 kits on rockauto but I'm in quandary. There are other kits out there like Amazon that seem to contain twice as many parts...
Are they relevant or will like gates or Edelman kits work just fine
