Car runs and drives, but hasn't been more than 10 miles in the last 5 years. We hooked a quick charger up to it and it fired right up, no smoke, no engine noises. Drove down the road and back just fine (some sputtering under light throttle) I assume from old gas. Floored it a couple times and it cleared up. Car is fairly clean, spot of rust sealed up near the sun roof and right rear quarter panel. Interior is very clean.
With new tires/battery/cleaning, what is a fair selling price for this assuming nothing major is wrong with it? Anything else to look for? AC doesn't work, no belt on compressor, and the fan speed switch was bad, said he can jump two wires to make the fan (only) come on or replace with a $50 switch.
Glass is all good. Seat covers were on to preserve the factory seats, looked underneath and they were very clean. 230k miles. It does have an aftermarket header/air intake/steering wheel/wheels. Rest appears stock. I will have to spend about $600 to get it transported to TX, $50 or so on a battery and $200 on tires. Probably clean it up and drive for a bit then sell locally.
KBB shows $150 to $350 trade in value lol, looks like I would lose my rear trying to get this one from NC to TX. And yes, I am a moron, not a CRX. I would have around $1500 in it by the time it was drivable safely and in TX.
The problem you have with KBB is that few of these cars look that good - in fact almost all of them look like pure **** by comparison. Up here where NOTHING is without rust, I would pay 1500 for that and feel like I robbed the guy blind.
After a certain point it's really tough to fairly price condition on an economy car, but KBB definitely isn't reliable here.
