Accord 6 cylinder idles rough stalls and engine gets very hot. All of a sudden I start the car and it wants to stall I step on the pedal to get a gas and it's barely running very rough. Heather idol about 5 minutes and the engine gets very hot where I can't even touch the radiator hose. Any suggestions. I replaced the spark plugs and spark plug wires new EGR valve cleaned throttle body.

 

Check engine light on?

 

Yes, codes came up for a cylinders 1-3-4,6 . Change spark plugs and wires. Cleaned throttle body thoroughly and removed carbon buildup. Chuck manifold off and cleaned the ports that had carbon build-up.

 

What codes..that would be helpful..

 

P0300, p0301, p0303, p0304, p0306

 

Multiple cylinder misfire..what is the condition of the spark plugs..wires..

 

They were about 5 years old. I replaced them yesterday along with new spark plugs. I am going to recheck the spark plugs and gap. New distributor and rotor yesterday as well. Old distributor had some oil in it. I'm thinking pcv could be part of the issue,? The temperature gauge stays in the middle. It doesn't overheat, but the engine manifold and radiator hose seems very hot. Car has 197,000 on it and was garaged out of weather all theses years. I replaced the gas fill tube because of rust as well.

 

Honda vehicles are very picky about ignition parts..use only Ngk or denso plugs..

 

ngk installed. i want to make sure of the firing sequence on the distributor. i'm thinking some wires are put on wrong. i marked them but the markings came off. while handling them. distributor is facing driverside fender with mounting screws 2 and 7 o'clock.

 

 

I had wires 2 and 5 reversed. Started it up and now it doesn't stall at idle but it still runs rough. Everything in the engine seems cleaned and vacuum lines I sprayed around didn't stall out. How can I test for fuel pump possibly? Any other suggestions.

 

What's the mileage..just seen it..did you gap the plugs correctly..

 

Have you checked your valve clearance?
Me thinks them thar exhaust valves are a bit on the tight side.
Check em every 30K miles, not 90K.

 

The car idles about 700 RPM it doesn't stall but you can hear sputter and is burning rich. I'm not sure if the computer has to relearn so I am going to drive it today for about an hour around town and see what happens.
