2002 accord window wont move. motor works
2002 accord se sedan
I was doing up my window and when it got to the top, I heard two or three loud popping sounds. It startled me. I then put the window down and it made the same noises and dropped half way down. I immediately hit the UP control and this stopped the window from going all the way down. However, it was not going up and was slowly dropping down. When i let go of the UP control, the window dropped all the way down and was only showing about 2 inches above the door. I accidentally pushed the window in without seeing if I could pull it out. When I hit the control I can hear the motor running and it does the full track up and then down. There is also a rubbing noise from inside the door when it is near the top and near the bottom (or atleast if the window was moving it would be top and bottom). Any ideas before I take the door cover off? Thank you!

You need to take off the door panel to see what's going on..google replace window regulator and it will show step by step instructions..easy fix...
if it is a mechanical scissor lift, it's usually the reduction gear drive where the tooth/teeth start to slip. The wheels can pop off the track but that usually requires the window being forced or the door/window being worked on in the past and not properly reinstalled.
If it is the cable driven system, it is either the cable retainers(plastic) that usually fatigue and fail allowing the cable to release and dropping the window. Or the cable drive system attached to the motor that fails.
Either way it is most likely not fixable. What you can do temporarily, remove the door panel, raise the window manually, hold it in place with tape, mark the track where the trolley is located when it is up.
Remove the tracke/trolley assembly from the door. With a self tapping screw you can line up the marks you made for the troller and screw the trolley to the track in the 'up' position. This will allow you to maintain security while you wait for the new regulator.
