car acts weird after ac recharge

Default car acts weird after ac recharge

my ac was empty so i bought the recharge kit and filled it up but then the belts started to squeak and i started to smell burning. also the car starts to idle strange the idle drops and goes back up.

Compressor could be locking up. You should've pulled a vacuum ti evacuate any moisture as well as check if its holding a vacuum.

1000x yes to the above! Do not fill up a leaking AC system with refrigerant. If it can't hold vacuum, it won't hold refrigerant either. Waste of money and ozone. Without pulling a vacuum and replacing the A/C dryer, it won't blow cold anyway. You may have overfilled the system and the compressor is putting massive load on the crank pulley.
Please don't evacuate the refrigerant into the atmosphere. Remove the AC belt and drive it somewhere they can pull the refrigerant out legally.
