So I found milky oil in my engine the other day, and I have been told it’s just a bad head gasket. Any other things I should check or consider? And also do I HAVE to replace my head bolts with ARP head studs when doing a head gasket job?

 

No, you do not need to replace your head bolts. It is not required - they are not stretch bolts. HOWEVER, you do need to make your own thread chaser to clean out the bolt holes (very easy with a spare bolt + dremel tool or similar). NOT a tap since you do not want to remove any aluminium from the thread. Bolts can be M10 or M11. An M10 bolt is easy to find anywhere. An M11 is just about impossible. You'd be better off either pillaging one from a wreck or buying a single bolt from Honda, and sacrificing one of the old bolts.

 

Don't believe that just replacing the head gasket is the way to fix the problem. The head or block might be cracked or the head and block may be warped. Things may get complicated for you.

 

Agreed. It's not known whether it's just a bad head gasket until you tear in to it and check/measure.
