Default Battery light comes on when braking from 40 to 15 mph and RPM drops to 1000

The battery light quickly goes away after less than 3 seconds.

This is right after replacing the alternator on my 2001 GS Integra, with new $100, unit. With the old alternator (replaced in 2015) the battery light would come on an stay on, every once in a while. I would have to restart the engine to make it go away.

The current alternator was brand new, and was sent with a paper displaying test results.

The cheapest option for me now is to re-install the old alternator, myself, and see if the current battery light behavior continues.

I was wondering if any one else ever encountered this problem.

Quite often a bad alternator takes out the battery at the same time, so your new alternator could be okay but the battery might be toast, just a thought.

check the voltage of the battery with a multimeter with the engine off and after it's turned on.
OFF --- at least 12.4V DC
ON --- at least 14.2V DC

If the readings are off, time to replace the battery. Most batteries these days start going bad after 3yrs.

Get your battery charged/ tested for free at auto zone, they sometimes lie that your battery didn't fully charge but it can still hold charge fine they just exaggerate the results so you buy a new from them, they said mines charged but didn't pass, till this day it still works year later.

I re-installed the old alternator, battery light has yet to come on while driving. Battery was tested before installing new alternator.
