Have a 98 crv with 200k km.

the car starts no issue when it’s cold. However when it is hot, it does not start. Just keeps cranking. I do smell gas after a while of cranking.

i have already replaced

entire distributor ( includes new internals)
spark plugs and wires from NGK
main relay
fuel pump
fuel filter
cleaned out the sensors in the intake
cleaned out throttle body

if I do let it sit for a hour cold it will start up fine. Pulling my head on what it could be. When it does start it isles fine and drives fine

 

Where did you get your distributor? A lot of these "loaded distributors" that come complete are filled with cheap, Chinese garbage electricals. The ignition module is the main culprit when this failure mode occurs, and if you replaced yours with a non-Honda one you may still have issues. Check for spark at the plugs when you're experiencing the failure. If you have no spark, I'd look for a known-good ignition module (of Honda origin), and see if that fixes your issue.
