I just wanted to make this thread because I'm actually kinda proud of myself. I've completed my first engine tear down yesterday on my D16z6 thats getting swapped into my EG Hatch. (Didn't take the valve train apart yet but will be soon because I am getting a Brian Crower valve train.)
I did it with two of my buddies, in my damn kitchen since I don't have a garage. Also didn't have anything to catch the oil, so I brought my snow shovel in and used that. Yes this was a super rachet way to do it, but it was so much fun. Also, I swear my kitchen is like the Bermuda Triangle of tools. Its like 20x20, no idea how we kept losing sockets, but whatever. Anyways, these pictures are the only ones I have of everything taken apart.
I'm probably going to scrap everything other than the block, head, and crankshaft.... So if anyone wants stock D16z6 parts for some reason, shoot me a PM, name a price.
anyone can remove a bolt and/or nut. Putting it all back together properly and setting timing is what people tend to lack knowledge of. Just look at all those threads on here. LOL

Why should I only run OEM bearings? I was recommended ACL by my local Honda friends.
Also, I work at a Honda Dealership (parts guy), and I got a Master Tech here who is going to help me build it.
I will pick up plastigauge and a bore dial gauge soon. Its going to be a while before it gets put back together anyways.
Edit: Spoke to another friend/acquaintance of mine, Chillin Garage (I believe thats what he goes by online), he explained why OEM bearings are my best bet.

Lmao, wish they were grow lights (LEAVE ME ALONE FBI, ITS A JOKE, KINDA). I have a black light in my living room. My girlfriend paints in bright colors and they glow. Its kewl.
On second thought, a skating rink in my house would probably be cooler than grow lights, both ways are probably good ways to make money for car parts though.

J series = Chevy rat motor*?
*Small blocks have been referred to as “mouse motors” whereas big blocks have been called “rat motors”. Dodge made one that was called an elephant, iirc.
