So I'm in the midst of finishing a G23 build and while installing an H22 flywheel onto the F23 crank I found that there was no pin on F23 and couldn't remove the one from the H22 crank. there is rotational slop without the pin but the flywheel seems to be held perfectly concentric on the crank. I know that even the big block Hondas are internally balanced with no counter weights on flywheel but is there a possibility off an imbalance without that pin?

No it won't throw the balance off. Just make sure the hole in the flywheel is positioned where the pin is supposed to be. All the pin is for is making sure the flywheel is clocked correctly for the timing marks to be correct.

Thanx, I went ahead and torqued the flywheel down.
It occurred to me that one pin outside of dead center could in now way hold the flywheel concentric if there is movement allowed otherwise.

 

Maybe break off a drill bit in hole to more closely approximate the weight of the missing pin lol. I do intend to spin this thing to 7800rpms minimum.

 

the weight of that pin that close to center of the rotating point will have no effect on the balance, no matter what rpm you could spin it to. We're talking the equivalent of hundredths of a gram on the outer edge of the counter weights

 

I figured as much, hence the lol. Trying to not get too excited but this thing's going to be a beast considering no boost, rod bolt issue has been well addressed.
