A 96 Gsr alternator runs 90 amps, 96 civic runs 70. The pulleys are both 4's, and the plugs look the same. But will the Gsr Alt fit in the 96 civic ex? I think the only thing to change would be the bracket, but im not sure. Has anyone done this? I know i could get a stronger one for my ek, but IMO its way cheaper to swap a stock gsr alternator - performance ones are seriously more expensive - just need a little more insight. The Alternator in my ek just doesn't want to keep up with my electronics, and yes, the alternator was new, less than two years old.

 

Not really, the upper bolt won't fit in the d-series alternator bracket.

 

What if i bored out the tensioner slot on the bracket? Or is it possible the b series bracket will fit on the ek? If i needed to, could I retrofit the integra bracket on the civic engine?

 

 

get the correct part for the correct car. Yes, there are various parts that are interchangeable between Civics and Integras. Alternator isn't one of them.

I've actually managed to fit my obd1 integra alternator on my 94 civic with no issues. You really just have to carry the bolt/nut over but really suggest you just get a high output alternator so you don't have to do everything twice. 90amp was still not enough for me to run 900watts rms without dimming and voltage drops.

 

Good thought. I think im going to do a big 3 upgrade before i make any moves toward a swap, though. Make my current more stable.

 

You can use an Integra regulator in a D-series alternator case as long as they're both Denso alternators.

 

The civic is a mitsubishi alternator. I did some digging and may just be more trouble than its worth. Its all good though, i have a few tricks up my sleeve.
