1993 Honda Accord EX Dome light
Hello! My 1993 Accord EX dome light will not turn on with the drivers door open, however, it turns on with the passenger door open. I'm preparing to wire up a basic alarm system in a few days and this is one of the features I need working. Where should I look first?
Thank you
Thank you
Instrument cluster shows only the passenger door being opened. When I open the driver door, it doesn't show it as open. I suppose that means the door trigger has failed!
On my honda civic 2000 it also does not show when the driver door is opened so I assume that it is meant to be that way.
The door ajar indicator on dash and domelight, should be activated by switch(es) in the door frame that you can inspect.. Also, if you or anybody has been inside the door panel putting in speakers or anything like that, perhaps something didn't get plugged back in properly. There are 3 or more plugs inside there that have to be plugged into the system.
i had the same issue, its a switch on the inside of the frame where the door closes that gets pushed in when you close the door, and springs forward when the door is open. It completes a circuit when the switch is sprung forward, and mine had failed. I eventually found that over time it just gets clogged up by dirt and grime causing it to not both fully slide out to complete the circuit, and not having a good enough contact to complete the circuit in the first place. its held in place with one screw, and can be taken apart by sliding the body off of itself. clean it up, make sure it can slide freely and put it back. if that doesn't do it, just go to a junkyard and get one off another car. hope this helps.
