1995 Honda Accord/Prelude swap questions
I just purchased a 1995 Honda Accord. A few previous owners ago installed a Prelude motor (2.2 vtec). The transmission is bad so I’m wondering what all 5 speed transmissions would bolt right up to this Prelude motor? I’ve never done any of this so forgive me if this seems like a simple question.
All H/F series(FWD) manual transmissions will fit with the few exceptions being the "H2A5" transmission from a specific 90-91 Accord model and the 97-01 Type-SH transmissions. Avoid those two and you're good.
Something to take into account is the gearing as it does vary quite a bit between them at times. Your H22 will want a shorter geared transmission from another H22 or H23. Using an F22/23 SOHC transmission will give you poor acceleration because the gears are very long and economy oriented.

Depends on the yard. They may not be familiar enough with Hondas to know the difference.
92-96 Prelude with H22 or H23 would be fine. H23 transmission is a little longer geared but it's still a good fit if you're on a budget or that's all that's available.
97-01 Prelude BASE only. No Type-SH transmission.
All 90-02 Accord and 97-99 Acura CL manual transmissions, aside from the H2A5 model. These will all be very long geared but they are usually cheaper.
You can also find manual transmissions from JDM importers that will fit but they are $1000+ for a decent one.
