Default What brand/viscosity of Engine Oil to use on a JDM Spec ITR?

Hi Guys,

I have a 97 JDM Spec Integra Type R, the engine internal is complete stock. The car now has 160,000 km so the age is getting up there. I do daily drive the car and also do spirit driving during the weekend. I'm also planning to go to track starting this year.

I'm wondering what brand or viscosity of engine do you guys run or recommend running? I currently use Mobil 1 5W-30 and it is fine, I buy them from the Gas station in Hong Kong.

The UKDM and I believe JDM manuals recommend 5W40 or 10W40 to be run in the B series motors. USDM/CDM ones call for 5W30 which might be due to climate. 5W40 should be fine. If you are not tracking the car you could even go down to a 5W30.

This is for a B16 but it should be the same as a B18 https://www.ek9.org/index.php?thread...ndations.1125/

I would also use 5W-30. It depends in what type of weather you experience.

Honda/Acura sells there own 10W -5w 30 Honda brand oil and some Acura dealers just use Mobile 1 , I use Mobile 1 extended performance full synthetic.

I’m planning to run AMSOIL Z-Rod 10W-30 when I get my 98 Spec JDM ITR.

10w/40 is what Honda recommends for JDM 98 spec R.

Hi quality synthetic 5w40 would be my choice, nice balance of extra viscosity and quick start up flow. Mobil1 0w40 is also a great oil if you need faster start up flow in colder temps.
