Default clutch master cylinder

Well, my car has had troulbe getting into first and second gear lately. Its been getting progressively worse. So last night, I checked under the dash and sure enough, my clutch master cylinder is starting to leak pretty bad.

My question is this....do I need to get an OEM cylinder? I know Acura would charge an arm and a leg for it. I found one on nopi that is made by Tokico...cost is ~50 bucks. Just wanted to know if this would work ok, or if I should just fork over the extra money for the real thing.

Also, do I need to replace the slave cylinder at the same time? Or can I leave that one alone and just change the master?

Thanks,
SupaTeg

Go to your local auto parts store and get it. I went to Checker Auto and got one, and it was the same as OEM, brand new. The guy told me that for the clutch master cylinders, they just sell OEM ones because they're so inexpensive and it's not worth it to remanufacture them. And of course, they're much cheaper than the dealer; I believe mine was like $70.

I have one too. It seems to work pretty good. I just wished I had the OEM part just for peace of mind, but oh well...I need it that day.

I dont' think you need to change the slave cylinder unless it's broken. I replaced mine cuz it was. but that was an aftermarket part aswell.

its a good idea to lube the slave cylinder up after you replace the master cylinder since you'll be down there bleeding it anyway. all you have to do is take off two easy bolts and the slave cylinder slides out, you can lube it up without removing the fluid line into it.
