Can I swap these engines?
I have an 02 Honda Accord lx with a f23A4 engine in it and it smokes real bad, so my friend has an engine that I was gonna put in thinking it was exactly the same. Turns out they aren't. His is a D17A1. Now can I still swap these, and if so, how should I go about doing so. Getting engine out now so responces are needed right away please. And thanx.
Got to be someone that know there Honda engines that can help out a Honda fan out as came to you looking for much needed help.
I wish I could help you out bro but I have no clue about what or why they do not bolt in and have the sensors your may need BUT
Back in the day was I was much younger I found Auto wreckers were very smart people so I say look in the yellow pages under auto wrecker see if you have any that specialize in Hondas and ask them I bet they know all about this.
Hope it helped you out a bit

This swap is a bad idea; the engines are from completely different engine families and are not plug compatible. Even if they were, the D17A1 (from a Honda Civic) puts out 115 hp and 110 lb/ft of torque, the F23F4 (from a Honda Accord) puts out 148 hp and 150 lb/ft of torque.
