Default Weird cluster issue

Ok I just bout a 2001 Civic lx. 160k miles auto. when I went to go get it the check engine light was on for a knock sensor. I said no biggie, I bought it and drove it home about 70 miles. When I got home I checked the codes again and sure enough there was another code that popped up p0740(torque converter circuit malfuction or open). When I was driving the car home I noticed that the odometer read 888888888 and the rpm and fuel guage would not move. Then after driving it for about 10 minutes the popped back on and everything worked. I go to start the car the next day and its back to showing those 888888 numbers. I replaced the knock sensor so the code is off now but I just dont know what this cluster problem is. Also for the p0740 code, I replaced the linear solenoid after reading that could be a cause of the problem, Im not sure if it fixed it yet as I havent driven on the highway yet. Please can someone help me out with this b/c Im pulling my hair out.

The cars runs great, drives good, doesnt slip in any gear. The only thing I did notice about how it drives is when it goes into 2 and sometimes 3rd its a hard shift but its not late. Thanks for any advice.
