Default Drain Plug Gaskets

Just curious: See a lot of alum. gaskets for drain plugs for sale. Some items, like a filter may be offered with the appropriate drain plug as a kit, or a pair of filters with plugs. Also notice torque mentioned often and comments like you can feel the gasket compress just before you hit the torque limit.

Is there something unique about Honda vehicles requiring special treatment, or is it a policy of the company's repair facilities in preventing call backs or such? I've been maintaining my vehicles for 50+ years and know how to respect fasteners to prevent loosening and over tightening, but would appreciate hearing about any Honda Uniqueness that might exist.

Thanks,
Mark

Aluminum pans with oil covered threads, just don't go 300 pound gorilla on it. Use a new crush washer each time.

Nothing super special.

You can reuse the washer I have on my own cars many times with no issues but they do keep getting squished a little more each oil change thats how they seal and eventually will stop sealing (knock on wood) dealers and oil change shops will likely put a new one on to prevent the possibility of it leaking and costing them lots of money replacing an engine. The washers are usually pretty cheap .
